Meet Our Founder
Dana Vickery Hubbard
Encino Healing Arts was founded by Dana Hubbard. Dana’s three decade journey as a healer began in the San Francisco Bay Area, when he became certified as a massage therapist through the National Holistic Institute. He has since incorporated other modalities into his practice including SomaFlow, BioSync, Yogassage, Reiki and cupping. This wide range of approaches allows him to carefully tailor his sessions to fit the needs of each client.
Before each session, he checks in with his clients to clarify their needs and outcomes. Dana’s unique contribution is in his ability to listen and carefully document what happens during each session. This tracking of progress enables him to fine tune his approaches. Imagine having a skilled professional bodyworker who has the ability to support you by drawing on different techniques, addressing your various physical challenges and creating real change for your body. Through his extensive training and years of hands-on experience, Dana is committed to the process of healing and brings genuine compassion for each individual who walks through the doors of Encino Healing Arts.

My Personal and Professional Journey
Welcome! And thank you for taking a few moments to get to know me and my work!
I had just turned 26 when I began my journey as a healer. I packed up my diesel Chevette, left my home in Boston and drove cross country to study massage therapy at the National Holistic Institute (NHI) in Oakland, California. At the time, I thought massage could provide a more interesting way to earn a living while I pursued my acting career. After graduating and moving to Los Angeles to resume acting, I soon found that bodywork generated a deeper resonance in me. It is so satisfying to help people to move out of pain and into physical comfort with an expanded feeling of movement.
When you touch a body, you touch a life. I strive to create a safe space for healing and painful feelings to be released. Building relationships with my clients is important to me and at times their emotional sufferings may bubble to the surface. My practice allows them to process them further on their own or with a therapist.
Building relationships with my clients is important to me and at times their emotional sufferings may bubble to the surface. I strive to create a safe space for healing and painful feelings to be released. I feel grateful to be present with those moments, for I believe that that’s when the healing has shifted to a deeper level.
While I work with people of all ages and levels of fitness, I have developed a special affinity for dancers. I discovered my love for dance as a student at Bennington College. I took dance classes just to move better as an actor. To my utter surprise, my whole body and heart were just shimmering with joy in the choreography classes! If I didn’t have two left feet, I probably would have switched majors! I eventually found my way into this wonderful world through my genuine skills as a bodyworker. Dancers really get the unique power of SomaFlow therapy and they have been a rewarding part of my private practice for over two decades. In the last few years, that experience has expanded to working with various dance companies, including the Joffrey Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, BC Ballet and Diavolo.
These last few years as a healer have been such a rewarding journey. I feel that if you open up a body, you open up a life. In that sense, a session can be a sacred meeting place and I am honored to be a part of that. I so appreciate your taking the time to get acquainted with what I do. Please feel free to email or call if you have any questions. I look forward to the conversation. - Dana
